Welcome to Khumo Kidz Publishing House

Over 80% of South African children around the age of 10 have trouble reading and understanding what they read at the same time.

The culture of reading is not emphasised in rural schools as it is in Model C schools. As a result, children from rural schools have to teach themselves to develop the habit of reading books. As active citizens, we must cultivate the culture of reading in schools in rural areas. We are committed to nurturing the seed of young minds by providing the right resources to foster their reading growth.

Introducing rural children to reading can profoundly enhance their cognitive development, expand their vocabulary and foster a lifelong love for learning. Access to books opens up new worlds, igniting imagination and critical thinking skills that are essential for personal and academic growth.

Who We Are

front-view-school-kids-reading

Khumo Kidz Publishing aims to provide quality books with an African flavour that awaken the imagination!

It all began at the home of founder and author, Nokwanda Mncwango Masenya, who had a desire to promote a love of reading among children. As her bookclub grew, the need soon arose for books with more inspiring stories and wholesome messages.

“Hmmm… why not write them myself?” thought Nokwanda. And the rest is history! Her first two illustrated children’s books have already hit the shelves to critical acclaim, with more in the works.

Khumo Kidz Care

Not one to rest on her laurels, Nokwanda also launched KhumoKidz Cares, a non-profit corporation that promotes reading among kids to expand their knowledge and enhance critical thinking. KhumoKidz Cares focuses mainly on children in disadvantaged primary schools.
